Torino, my hometown
My Hometown: where mountains greet the city
Located in between the mountains, Torino, first capital of the Italian Kingdom, is the jewel of the Alps and every year tens of thousands of people are charmed by its peculiarity. Not as big as Milan or Rome but as lively as a big city is, Torino knows how to welcome properly the tourists, letting them taste its history, beauties and, of course, the delicacies! So, what are you waiting for? Let's find out what's good
in Torino and how to visit it!
A few data:
1)With more than 800000 citizens, Torino is the biggest city in the Piemonte region, and also its capital!
2)The city's saint is Saint John, which is celebrated on the 24th of June. Don't miss the bonfires in the streets!
How could you experience at the best the city's best attractions?
1) Go and visit the Egyptian Museum, the second largest in the world! Recently refurbished for its 200th anniversary, this museums' collection has plenty of unmesurable treasures, which importance is just below the Egyptian Museum of Cairo, in Egypt.

2)Have a taste of the city`s signature drink, Bicerin! A sweet coffee mixed with whipped milk and chocolate will sweetly caress your mouth, but refrain from mixing it! The tradition wants you to feel every ply in the exact order that it is served in. Trust me, it's worth it.
3)Let the city amaze you from the great sightspot of Monte dei Cappuccini! (lit. monk`s hill). A church with centuries of history, nowadays havens the Mountain Museum and the Turin Union of Trekkers.

4)Right next to it, the Gran Madre church is a neoclassical masterpiece that oversees the city. Built for celebrating Napoleon's (yes, THAT Napoleon) departure from the city, it clearly resembles Rome's Pantheon and it is located in a gorgeous position, just facing Piazza Vittorio, another famous square of the city.

5) Last but not least, enjoy a great time shopping in Via Roma! Renewed during the fascism period, this is doubtlessly where the Turinese people go get their shopping to. Either a bar or a fashion boutique, there's a shop for everybody!
Also, don't forget to look at the 3D tour of my hometown!

Luca, Torino is amazing! Molto bello! The mountains are stunning, and remind me of my own hometown. It is far denser than what I grew up in, but I would certainly like to visit. I think what interested me most in the article was the historical artifacts in Torino. The Gran Madre Church and the Egyptian Museum look very fascinating. Additionally, despite not being a coffee drinker, the Bicerin sounds very tasty! I hope to visit this city one day.
RispondiEliminaThanks for sharing, Luca!
Great post. The Gran Madre Church is really captivating to me, especially since it's built for celebrating the mighty Napoleon! In addition, its gorgeous position facing Piazza Vittorio is wonderful.
RispondiEliminaGreat overview of the city. Italy was already my favourite country, but I guess I have more to see.
